Do Nike exploit their workers ?

It has been said that Nike under pay there workers in the third world where Nike have there factories. Many people have complained about the unfairness of the worker's who work in the factories. Nike have their Factories in mostly Asia where there is a huge workforce and cheap labour is available. Many women and children work at these factories as they are the cheapest to employ. Many work more than 72 hours a week to make enough money to keep their family's going. The workers in one factory in China 3,000 of them went on strike demanding an increase of 1 cent an hour in their wages. They do not get paid over time and work in harsh working conditions and do not get proper breaks and working rights.
A comparison was carried out between leading sports brands between Reebok and Nike. It showed that in the poorest countries where the Sweatshops are located that the average meal costs from about $o.60-$o.90. U.S companies such as coca-cola and Goodyear see that people need more than $1.60 a day to live on so they pay their employee's over the minim wage. Reebok pays their employee's in the factories $65 a month compared to Nike who pay just $45 a month who is working more than 72 hours a week. Just two percent of Nike's $650 million operating budget could raise the salary of their 25,000 workers from a wage of $1.60 a day to a much more livable $3 a day.

The geography of my Nike runners.

I have had a few pairs of runners and they have been to many countries over the world. This is the Geography of my own Nike runners. The first pair of Nike runners I ever got were in Tunisia. They are manufactured over there as Nike have factories there because labour is cheap there. I got my first pair in a market in Tunisia. I was about nine or ten years old. My Nike's then came back to Ireland through Dublin airport and made their way to Co. Wicklow. My runner's came with me to Co. Wexford and Co. Kerry as well as travelling to London , Lanzorote and New York. My runners have been up beside a volcano in lanzorote and on a cliff in bray that is been eroded away. I wore my runners all the time and they made many footprints all over the place. Finally they started to break and the rain water started to come in. It was an end to my runners. They are now in a landfill in Bray now decomposing as we speak. My next few pairs of runners weren't Nike until I was in 3rd year. These runners have travelled to. They have walked many miles and done many classes of P.E with me. On a Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday they make their way into Dundrum and back again. They have been around the place including Boston, New York, Spain ,Scotland and back again. They have been through 24 county's through Ireland and back to Wicklow. They have travelled thousands of miles by both foot and in suitcase's.

Where do Nike have their stores?

Nike is a big worldwide company. They have many stores all over the world but to know where to have their stores and where their would be a population big enough for them to make money. To find this out they would have had to do research into looking at all these posiabilitys. There fore having to look at maps of the world to find where they would be locating their stores and factorys and looking at population reports to find both customers and a workforce. Nike have over 705 stores worldwide. They sell their products in over 180 countries.
